Hi everyone, I have a problem and was wondering if I could get some advice about what might be wrong.

My laptop will freeze 5-10 mins after it's turned on. The screen goes blank and the hard drive light stops flashing. The fan is still going and the power is on cause the power button is still turned on. The computer is completely unresponsive however, I can't even shut it down manually by holding the power button. The only way for it to turn off is if I unplug it and pull the battery, otherwise it will just stay like this. At first I thought it was a software problem and I reinstalled windows xp. Since it continues to do it, even in safe mode, I figure it's gotta do with the hardware somehow. Anyone have similar problems?

My warranty expired a month ago so I wanna see if I can fix this myself, and if not, I wanna have an idea of what's going on before I take it in to get repaired.

    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks.
