I am looking to upgrade the CPU in my Acer Travelmate 2480-2943.

The following are my CPU specs:
    Model Name: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 410 @ 1.46GHz
    Frequency: 1466.700 MHz
    L2 Cache: 1024 KB

    Graphics Processor: Intel GMA 950

    Manufacturer Part:
    LX.TEC05.070

I have seen success stories for other Travelmate 2480's and want to see if this is possible on mine.

I would like to go to the Core 2 Duo. Anybody know of any compatible CPUs I could go with and what is the upgrade process? Does it require an entire disassembly?

    Thank you very much!

If it's the same layout as my 2450 then no, its pretty easy to replace the processor. Just remove the large cover on the bottom.
You'll just need to unscrew the heatsink from the gpu and cpu, then unscrew and unplug the cooling fan and remove it. Then gently lift out the heatsink, it may be a little stuck on the cpu and gpu. (just be gentle with it), I don't know exactly which cpu's are compatible sorry. Theres a thread on the 2450 cpu upgrading, sounds like t2450 core duo will work in it, someone said they even put in a t5xxx chip. I would never bet on it working though.
