I'm trying to fix one of these for a friend and the system board is dead as far as I can tell. I fix notebooks as a job, but usually work on other brands. I've tried new RAM, stripping down the notebook and removing all devices, removing the CMOS battery and reconnecting it, as well as connecting an external monitor and using the hotkey. It just won't display any video. The CPU is soldered directly to the board, so I can't try a new one.

I'm trying to find at least find a service manual for it. I've searched on these forums, read the "Manual Exchange" thread but this notebook isn't listed as being offered there and I can't find it on the Euro FTP sites or other sites listed.

Does anyone have any suggestions to offer as to how to fix it? A new board will cost $950 and Acer's repair service would be $450. There's no way he can afford that.

Thanks a bunch if you can help us out.
