I have an old travelmate 4000 that I just picked up and installed Windows 7 on. I got everything working except for the battery meter/power options. It's not recognizing the battery at all, there's only one row of power options, nothing for when on battery (like you woud see in a desktop).

The battery meter in taskbar properties/notifications/systemicons is grayed out. No battery listed in device manager (there is one unknown device listed, that might be it).

I've tried taking the battery out, booting up without it, plugging it back in whilst booted. I installed batterybar pro, says "no battery detected"

I can boot up with just the battery though, lasts for about 15 minutes then shuts off without warning and wont turn back on until I plug it back in.

It was working fine in XP.

Any suggestions on what to try next?
