    Hello.

I have an Acer TravelMate 4050 notebook. It has the default Hard Disk drive installed (40GB). I was woundering if I could delete all the partitions that are on there including the PQSERVICE partition.

What I would like to do is split the disk up by clearing it completely & Instaling Windows XP from the recovery discs & Ubuntu Linux 7.04. As I use Linux on my Desktops. But I have found out that the Recovery disks require information from PQSERVICE (Is this correct)

    Anyway bottom line:

    Can I remove PQSERVICE
Is there an option to reinstall Windows XP from the recovery discs as a virgin installation. (eg like the OEM or Retail copy of XP Pro)

    Any Help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Vince

it should be fine to delete the pqservice partition as the backup disks are independant of it.
