hi all![]()
i'm new in here and at the beginning i would like to apologize for my english it is not perfect but i hope that you can understand me![]()
specification of my notebook:
T9300 (2,5 ghz)
4 GB ddr2 (667 mhz)
and unlucky gf8400gs
win 7 x86
My problem lies in the graphics card, the standard is so weak gf8400gs and because the rest of the components is not so bad I decided to convert a standard equivalent to gf8600gt and then there were problems.
I upgraded the motherboard's BIOS from 1.32 to version 1.35 it took me quite some time but I managed to do it, and then there is a new problem ....
The new card has 512MB of DDR2 gf8600gt, bios of the motherboard shows only 256, the GPU-Z shows that I have installed a standard graphics card with 256 MB of memory, everest (prog for checking components) also shows the card has 256 MB memory ....
I'm sure the new card has 512 MB memory running! I am not able to run the graphics card with 512 MB of memory.
I read many threads and articles on this particular forum but I'm still not able to deal with this problem, and therefore writes with a great asking for help to you.
I read in some topics in this forum about how to change the graphics card even on gf9600 which was very surprising for me, but the 8600GT will be enough
So if anyone from the honorable members of this forum could help me with any change of the graphics card BIOS, or anything that could lead to the mobilization of gf8600gt at full power please help.
I do not have too much experience in MS-Dos but slowly my uncle google is helping me understand this: P
if it is needed I can put pictures of the bios and the rest of the programs.
I hope this stuff will work:F
greetings!!!![]()
I know that knowledge is power but I hope that you will help me![]()

It is strange that GPU -Z does not see all memory if installed...
Are you 100% sure that it has 512MB of ram?
Did you use the GPU somewhere else with full capacity of 512MB RAM or you bought it from someone? Also are you sure that it is not a 8600M GT with 256 MB of DDR3 memory?
It s strange that all utilities you mentioned do not see 512MB of RAM.
For example, in my BIOS under Video memory it shows 0MB, but in windows it works flawlessly and all utilities see my full capacity of 1024MB of video memory, so I don`t think it is up to BIOS... -
Posting screenshots of GPU-Z and Everest will help us figure out what's going on here.

Thank you in advance for such a quick reply and interest in

What else can I add hmmm
GF8600gt / V086 ver: 1.3
vg.8pg06.002
Hynix hy5ps561621a
GF8400gs / V087 ver: 1.2
vg.8mg06.003
Hynix hy5ps121621c
At the moment I installed a back gf8400gs and also, unfortunately, there was a problem with installing the nvidia drivers for Widnows.
I get an error like "no device found, installation can not continue," and now I have it in both graphics cards ....
What is most important both cards are detected by the system as a "standard vga adapter"
I have installed Widnows 7 ult. x86 on the need to update bios or for some action in ms-dos
If I remember anything else that might be helpful i'll immediately write it, if you have any questions please write.
Graphics card bought by the auction site, it comes with Acer Aspire models but I do not remember the exact model name: / -
Based on what I found on vg.8pg06.002 module it should be 256MB DDR2.
As for the memory chips model number hy5ps561621a is not enough to confirm its size- there are some further info like FP25 or something like that.
I can verify that last claim though because hynix website doesn't work for me so I can't get to the specs. -
It is probably 8600M GT with 256 MB of DDR2 RAM memory...
One tool can miss but 2 - I think it is way hard for it to happen...
Cheers -
From the description of the auction showed that the card has 512MB of DDR2 memory, unfortunately I am not at the moment able to check it in another laptop ...
Even assuming that the card has 256MB of problem is referred to as the overall detection rate, as seen on the screenshots notebook detects it and shows her some real data, but only some ...
I would like the power to run it 100% but I still do not know what could be a problem.
Do you think of the re-flash the bios and re-upload windows can help?
I did this several times but without positive results and only with Windows 7x86.
maybe if I install the x64 windows7 it will help? -
The fact that it's showing up in GPU-Z and Device Manager as a Standard Graphics Adapter is a dead give-away that there's no Nvidia driver on the system (GPU-Z even lists the driver as ForceWare 0.00) - maybe once there's a proper Nvidia driver on the system, GPU-Z will properly report the GPU memory size.
If Nvidia's official laptop drivers aren't working, I recommend that you download one of these drivers from LaptopVideo2Go plus the modified INF that goes with it. That modified INF file basically removes any restrictions on what GPU the driver can be installed on - toss it into the folder of the driver installation program, and see if it works then.
I'd be wary of flashing the BIOS more often than necessary - if something goes wrong, your system is completely bricked. -
A new problem: |
After the responses of "TehSuigi" I thought that I start from the beginning without re-flashing the bios from version 1.35 to 1.35 (already done)
But now I am unable to install the chipset drivers ...
When installing the chipset drivers the computer go itself off
I put new copy of windows7 right now with x64 and try to install the chipset drivers hope it'll help
win7x64 installed
chipset drivers also, unfortunately, no positives: /
Both cards are recognized as a standard vga graphics adapter
my ideas are over
I tried the drivers from the www.laptopvideo2go.com but also shows the message "No device for drivers" something like this
Maybe some ideas from the video card BIOS (VBIOS)?
TehSuigi can u help me with drivers form that website maybe i do sth wrong can you make a list point by point so i can compare the yours a me way.
I hope it is still possible to do sth that make it work good -
So what, you confused me. Did you flash the BIOS again or not? The chipset drivers don't even factor into it - you need Nvidia graphics drivers to get the GPU to work properly.
-
i flash it twice 1st time from 1.32 to 1.35 and 2nd from 1.35 to 1.35 i was thinking that at the first time sth goes wrong with it but i was wrong :/
I downloaded the files again the installation was successful
Unfortunately, the card has only 256 mb but now I know that is the ability to locate and better graphics card in my notebook
Here is what shows the GPU
http://yfrog.com/n0gf8600gtj
thanks everyone for their help in restoring the proper functioning of my notebook!
Now it's time for something better
But I want to know your opinions about the mounting gf9600gt.
I read from it is associated with increased power supply.
Is it just about replacement adapter that plugs into a power outlet and the computer,
or do I have to interfere in the components of the notebook ?
whether it is possible to use my type of notebook memory DDR3 gf9600
installing drivers is similar?
I have a chance to buy a card with DDR3 512MB gf9600gt
designation G96-630-A1
whether such a conversion will be useful and possible?
I love you guys, Once again thanks for your help :* -
Glad we were at least able to get everything working again on your machine - trust me, I'm never switching back to a x86 operating system again.
Even though the 8600M GT has only 256MB of DDR2, it should still be a sizable improvement over your old 8400M GS - double the shader units at a higher speed should pretty much make it 50-100% faster in most games.
As for throwing in a 9600M GT, it's tricky. The 9600M GT doesn't always play nice with xx20G machines - on the 6920G, you can't see anything before Windows loads, and it flat out doesn't work on the 5920G. People have found that the 96 50M GT 1GB DDR2 cards are more compatible. Can't say I've heard of any power consumption concerns...
Or if you want to really make your system hum, opt for the Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR2 - now THAT is a GPU. (just be careful to not get an MXM-A card by accident)
If you want more information on putting a 9600M GT into your 7720G, this topic and this guy should be on your list. If you've got private messages enabled, feel free to send him one. -
I installed a few games in order to verify the possibility of the card, and so:
changes in terms of resolution are not great, but in most games can improve the quality of details, turn on the vsync or antialiasing without much loss of fps
This was not an unusual modification but I can tell from the increase of power is in the range of 80%
Now I'm waiting for confirmation of data on my next purchase gf9600gt 512MB DDR3, I hope that this will be the true purchase, not as in the case gf860gt...
of course, as soon as I make changes with a positive result I will give you know!
Greetings! -
I am glad you are satisfied with your upgrade.
