    Acer Travelmate 8371 Availability

    Hi all. Looking for an Acer Travelmate 8371 with Intel X25M SSD 80GB, 4GB Memory, bluetooth and all the toys.

    Now if the notebook does not come to the USA I will be buying this abroad but I believe the wireless standards in Europe are on different frequencies?

    The power plug is autosensing, but my concern is whether or not the wireless standards like ABGN + possibly wimax are different frequencies and if I can remap back to a USA keyboard even if the key symbols on the keys are slightly different but I assume the shape should be the same.

    Will be checking currency conversion rates and which nations have the one I want before I order. I think its possible that they could ship these to the USA when they revamp their Travelmate's. But as of yet, there is no firm responce.

    It is now July 24th, 2009. And to date nothing yet has appeared since Europe won't even be getting stock in with the non SSD models till like early August.

    Im not sure how long I should wait. But I need a notebook before the year is up.

    the wireless standards are all the same, however the power standards are a different story. in the US you have 120v, and in europe you may have from 200 to 240.

    Power is the same. It is an Autosensing power supply so its irrelevant. One just needs an international plug adapter for the USA which is very cheap. The only thing that needs to change is the prongs that plug into the wall.

    I just hope I can buy it from USA and see it here in person rather than ordering it from a European nation. But it is not on the list for the USA website and nothing has been mentioned to date.

    Acer has 8371 and 8371G drivers on the USA Support site. Yet no mention of this laptop yet on the website. I have a feeling it will become available later this year I hope.

    Going by the drivers, it looks like it will have what I want. By the time Windows 7 rolls around, prolly will even have Windows 7 installed to boot.

    You don't need any adapter just the cable that plugs in to the wall needs to be bought at a local store, as from the PB (Power Brick) to the wall, its a separate cable, we usually get the UK & USA cables with the lappies here, i have an old EU cable so just use that when traveling
