Hey, sorry my poor english, but lets try to describe my case:

I have just purchased a high resolution CRT monitor to connect as my laptop’s external display. But I have some problems. As far as the resolution is equal or smaller than 1280x1024 everything works fine. But for a higher resolution like 1600x1200, the monitor stays at 1280x1024 and the screen image becomes to scroll horizontally and vertically. The laptops LCD panel native resolution is 1280x800, but it is switched off. I’m only using the CRT monitor as the display device.

Could it be my laptop’s graphics card is unable to draw such resolution (higher than 1280x1024)?

I have Acer Travelmate 2301WLMi using Intel® 82852/82855 graphics. Video BIOS version: 3360

edit: The CRT monitor supports 1600x1200 resolution
