Hi, my travelmate 2700 will not run on AC mains power it will only charge up the battery when it is completely flat then run on the battery. It runs for about an hour then goes flat then I have to charge it. Also there is no AC power plug icon in the system tray this only appears when I disable acpi but it still goes flat even though now it says it's running on AC and the plug icon is there. Is there a way I can force it to run on AC when the battery gets low or is there a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance

I'd suspecte a bad power supply or power adapter. The adapter is probably easier to replace, and see if it works. Otherwise a new power supply is in order -- not an easy to do self project if you aren't very familiar with a computer.

The power supply is ok as I have tried another one from a similar laptop. I have also opened it up and checked and soldered the jack plug to make sure it wasn't loose. thanks for you help

This is a known issue with these units; they apparently have weak power circuitry on the mainboard; sadly this means that the mainboard will need replacing.
