    Hi!

I have a problem with my Acer TM290 BIOS. When I power-on the notebook nothig appears on LCD. I know the BIOS is dead and the solution is to go to a tech service.

My question is, what can be the solution? Recover BIOS by someway or replace the motherboard?

    Thanks!

they will most likely flash a new version of the bios back into your motherboard.

As George mentioned, how can you be sure it's the BIOS? Do you get any beeps, LED lights or anything after you hit the power button? If so, it's possible your video card or backlight is dead. If it's the video card, you need a new systemboard. If it's the LCD, then you need either a new LCD or an FL Inverter module (supplies power to FL tube [backlight]). If the BIOS is actually dead and nothing comes up (no beeps or falshing LED's), then the only solution is to replace the systemboard. Acer would not reflash the BIOS on your systemboard, they'l just replace it (faster, easier). I believe the BIOS's are surface mounted chips which makes it a bit difficult to re-program is it's completely dead (should be able to boot to anything to allow re-programming).

Your best bet is to get a new motherboard.
