@iunlock
i like very much your work on gigabyte aero 15 and dell xps 9560.
Are you considering to do the same work on an acer like this? -
I'll make it known for sure if I do plan to tap into the Acer.
Cheers. .sicily428 likes this. -
Ithink that its quality is not so bad but it is really hot in gaming sessions so i think that a repaste/repad like you do could help.Last edited: May 7, 2017 -

@iunlock I think it would only be worth the effort to to do Acer's unique offerings.
The Predator Triton 700 with GTX 1080 in 15" slim chassy and weird touch-pad would definitely rouse interest. Would be well worth the re-paste and review

some reviews from amazon.com
1 ) Five Stars

I'm updating my old review. Didn't have much time for made it. Let me start.
First of all, It's my first item from Acer brand. Why I choosed that; Because most new released, best price with these specifications, good panel, looks like cool(like working laptop but it's a gaming laptop).
My first impression is quality. Item has high quality, when you touch it you'll understand.
DISPLAY(mine's screen is LG LP156WF6-SPP1)
Screen is great, you can enable Blue screen filter for your machula and eyes, PVM is not good but at this screen there is no problem because PVM frequence is very high so that's remove the negative options.(at %100 brightness PVM is not activing so I'm using it at %100 at all times anyway)
KEYBOARD
Keyboard is very good, easy to use, it has num-pad, back light red(only visible when you look at true angle and position to screen, when you are too close you can't see light)
TOUCHPAD
Touchpad is great, i liked it and features, it has finger print reader so you won't need to write down your password every single time, finger is enough
SOUND
Sound is amazing!! I most liked it. 4 outputs for sound and Dolby True Harmony is iimpressed me. Never saw like this quality sound from a laptop.
PORTS
Ports not placed well, worst thing is AC plug in Right side, when you gaming all heated air meets to cable of charger. USB 3.0 and USB type-C in right too so your hand will hit your external HDD or something like that when using external mouse. This is the worst part of my review about this laptop.
---CONS--
-Bad placed ports, it's will block you when plug in hdd, mouse and charger.
-Thermal Throttling. My computer never reaches more than 3.4 ghz, heat up to 94 C in stress test or playing GTA V at very high. But you won't get any FPS drops during game. I never noticed it. FPS is solid and about 55 60 at GTA V.
-Screen frame is thick. But I think it's not problem(for me) because heat won't meet screen thanks to thickness of screen frame.
-Fingerprints on lid.
-My laptop's serial number not valid. I don't understand how can it be but it gave me error when tried to register product.
-No global warranty.
++PLUS++
+Very fast SSD performance. I'll add pictures of it. 239 GB can be usable(includes Windows)
+Sound quality is amazing.
+Fast and good GPU, never reaches more than 88 C.
+Performance/price is best at these options.
+Display quality is high, has eye care options.
+Battery life is really long. I got 5 hours when watching and surfing.
+Look like office laptop but it's gaming
+HDD is silent and not work as long as you don't run anything placed in it.
+When you try to open lid, laptop not moves or risen.
+Not many bloatware.
OVERALL
I suggest you to buy this laptop. Fast as lightning and solid as rock. Price is match for quality.
IF you have questions just ask to me, I'll try to help.

2) Great performance for the price, loud fan

I've been looking for a laptop that I can use for gaming, but is professional enough to have in a workplace setting (engineering so I need high performance) and settled on this product. Out of all of the laptops I've looked at this one has the highest performance for the price. Other laptops with similar specs I have found to be in the $1600-$1800 range.
There are 3 flaws with this laptop that make it unattractive.
First of all, leaving fingerprints behind is an aesthetic issue for me and it is very noticeable on this machine.
Secondly, the red-only back-lit keyboard is dull and not very helpful.
Lastly and most important, the FAN IS VERY LOUD. Even as I write this review with no other applications open the fan is quite obnoxious.
I'd still recommend the laptop, but the cheap price tag comes at a cost.
3) Excellent!

Perfect size, excellent performance! I also like that it the styling is very subdued no big chunky red spaceship trim or huge obnoxious looking grills. The soft touch on the bottom is pleasant, and the brushed feel/look material everywhere else is great! The most intense activity that I use this for is emulation, and so far it hasn't had any problem for anything from SNES to N64 to PS2. I did a lot of research in purchasing this laptop, and it hit just the right spot for style, size, performance, and specs for me.
4) It runs my Vive and that's what I wanted it for.

So far so good! It runs my Vive just fine. It scores in the mid 7's on the Steam VR test.
It's a great, sleek, fast laptop that doesn't scream "Gamer Laptop". -
