    Hi everyone

I'm looking for help in extending my warranty for my Acer 5740G laptop. Every website/retailer tells me that I have to buy the warranty WITH a purchase of notebook. However, when I look online and in these forums, it tells me that I can purchase it before my one year warranty period ends (Hell, even Acer sent me an email to upgrade my warranty, although all the links were dead). So I'm gonna guess it's valid.

    So my questions are:

    1) Could someone reconfirm for me that I can buy a 2 year extended warranty for my laptop within the warranty period?

    2) And could someone refer me to a site that sells it in Canada? Honestly, at this point, I don't care about the price, I just want it, (my warranty ends in less than a month and I would really like some insurance on it).

Please and thank you so much.

Acer themselves would be the company to purchase your extended warranty from: you can purchase online here.
And yes, getting the extended warranty is a good call; it helped me get a fully-functional Blu-ray drive a month or two ago (this 6920G is 2.5 years old).

I shot Acer another email in a short while, and they responded and gave me the same link. Thanks for the help.

Question: How'd you get a blu ray drive? I thought warranties disallow you from upgrades?

It wasn't an upgrade - my system originally came with an Optiarc BD-ROM drive that was particularly cantankerous. It didn't want to recognize Toy Story 3 when it was inserted into the drive, and since I did my due diligence and troubleshooting, had Acer send a replacement under my warranty.

    Sorry last question:

Would you recommend getting the 2 year warranty or the 3 year + accidental protection?

I opted for the 2-year; I plan on getting a new laptop this year or next (Sandy Briiiiidge :D), so when the warranty's expired on this thing, I'll run it as a media center until it dies on me.
