Good looking out :) These very well could be XP drivers for those models. Inorder to know for sure if the drivers are working and stable someone with one of the listed notebooks will need to try them. The date posted on the drivers is very recent(august) which means acer must be trying to get XP drivers together.

These drivers could potentially help out users who want to use XP on those models instead of vista...

I tried to download and archive in case it gets taken down, but its taking a lot longer than usual. Hopefully those with those laptops will see this thread and rejoice.

Just how can a WLAN driver be so large? 186MB? Are you sure there is nothing fishy about that FTP site?

i can confirm the 5920g drivers work, dont install the web cam driver though, it causes the windows shutdown lock up. Ie when you hit restart or shutdown the machine just stops at the windows shutting down screen

Hi Guys :) I have downloaded all XP Drivers of 5920G from Acer's FTP site. But, I dont know which driver is for which hardware. Which is the driver for the following hardware?
    SATA HDD
    Web Cam
    Touch Pad
    Programmable Keys
    Touch Sensitive Keys
    USB
I've read one of the post of this thread saying that the webcam driver from ACER's FTP site does not work or has some bugs. If so, does this mean that I cant use my webcam in XP (bad since I wanted to use my webcam for teleconferencing)? Are there any drivers for the 5920G webcam in XP?

Thank you in advance guys :)

    Hi

I'm new to this thread. I did find it very usefull. Finally got xp loaded onto the Acer Aspire 5920G. 1 thing though: I know from reading the threads that the webcam won't work as it shutsdown the laptop when you use it and the turbo memory isn't supported by xp. After installing all the drivers from the acer ftp site i am still left with one unknown device that only says pci device. Any idea's on what it could possibly be.

dude what sata chipset do you have?

I had to download the vista sata driver unzip it on vista so i could get the "filename".oem, put the unzipped drivers on a stiffy disk, plug in a usb stiffy drive and hit f6 at the xp install startup when it prompted. I had the aspire 5920g so that used the ich8 sata drivers. you may have to play around with the sata drivers when you loading up.

do you know the make and model of your sata controller? that would help find the sata driver.

I got an Aspire 7520G and I had the same driver problem for XP.
I found the FTP link randomly on the web and used all the drivers in there (and of course ditched Vista :p).

    Everything works fine!

I unzipped the sata drivers on vista. Copied that whole folder to stiffy, rebooted with xp disk in dvd rom and hit f6. When it runs through it's checks and asks for sata driver choose the 2nd option from the list. The Acer aspire 5920G uses the ICH8/R sata chipset

Been reading a lot of tutorials bout installing xp in sata but they are all mixed up. Do you have to use nlite to make custom os discs or just intall the xp directly and install the driver after? GUys help me I want to run xp in my Acer Aspire 5920G. Vista is taking all of my computer's resources.

You can slipstream the intel AHCI SATA driver on the XP CD.

    http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/
Download the DriverPack Base app. You will use it to slipstream the MassStorage Driverspack to XP.

Don't install the webcam or you'll have problems restarting/shutting down your notebook. It works fine with the standard XP driver.

    Hello Incursus,

I am looking for the XP drivers for the Acer Aspire 7520 model.
I have read somewhere on the internet that these where the official drivers for these machines but because Acer sells them with Vista they do not want to distribute these XP drivers.
Did you had the possibility to download them ?
Can you put them somewhere I (and others) can download them ?

    Regards,
    Yves

    Hello mates :D

I wanna install windows XP on my Acer 5920G too.. but I have the same problem about accesing the site. It shows no files into the directory. So I would like to propose that, could someone of you that you have already downloaded the drivers, create a *.rar or *.torrent file and link it to us ? It seems that I am not the only one with that problem :D

    Thanx a lot :)

Definately seems that acer have removed drivers from the ftp. managed to get wireless from intel and a 8600m gs video driver. If anybody has the set required is there a way you could make them into a torrent and let us all know. Getting frustrating!!

There use to be drivers for Acer Aspire 4720 but due to the Wireless & Bluetooth file sizes, I thought I could download them at a later date. Later only I found all drivers were taken down. Man .. this sux. So I downloaded drivers from Aspire 4710 and they work like a charm lol.. Now what's missing is the Acer Empowering software. Has anyone Acer Arcade for model 4720? Appreciate your help very much. thank you.
