Hey all been a long time since I last posted but last time everyone was very helpful and the problem was soon fixed so let's hope we can fix it again!

Well my Acer travelmate 5720 (same laptop that had problems last time) running Windows Vista Home Premium has recently been having some problems. I.e:
-Any of the Acer Empowering Technology Applications crash uncontrollably
-I can't find any networks, and it's not my router I checked.
-My windows firewall won't turn on which is strange.
-There might be other problems but I haven't found any others yet

I have run a "Deep" virus scan and found nothing.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Joey

Do you have a System Restore point a ways back that you could try?

Unfortunately the last one I did was a while ago and I have no worry about losing data but rather I've installed nearly all my programs since then and I don't really want to have to install them again.

But I guess if the worst comes to the worst then I guess I'll have to try that.

Thanks for the help anyway, it's much appreciated.

Tried creating another account, just to check it and see how Windows Firewall behaves in it? Also, can you reinstall your Acer software in any way? :)

Made a new account still have all the same problems :( Acer apps still crash and the firewall still won't play nice.

Also on log in of this account (and the original one) I recieved a message that said "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the system Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for detail about why the service didn't respond"

At the moment I don't know of anyway to do that no :(

Atm my best option still looks like a full reinstall/restore of windows :/

    Thanks again,
    Joey
