    I have a 4 year old Acer aspire 5310 and i was wondering if it would be worth upgrading it or if i should by a new computer, if i were to upgrade it what would you recommend i do or if i should get a new computer what would you advise i get, needs to be good for school/uni?

    You have 943GML chipset and a socket M CPU, so you can upgrade your CPU something like T5500 or T5600, these are widely available in ebay for £10-£15, you can increase the memory upto 2GB( what's your memory).
    You can switch to SSD, You have to give more details of your system and your budget then people can give you proper advice.
    I would advise you to go for an upgrade and spend as little as you can.
