It's not gonna happen- Ivy Bridge CPUs won't work in Sandy Bridge laptops regardless of Intel's claims that some computers can support them with BIOS updates.
Acer won't update the BIOS and a BIOS-mod won't do.

P.S. I'm guessing that's what you mean- you didn't really get into detail.

Modding BIOS is not updating BIOS- these are two different things.
Acer won't update BIOS and simply adding CPU microcode won't allow Ive Bridge to work.

Yes you can add CPU microcode and that would work if you had a Sandy Bridge CPU but in order to make Ivy Bridge CPU working on a Sandy Bridge platform you need an actual update of BIOS (not just adding microcode).

Notice that mobile chipsets are not on the compatibility list, you don't have UEFI and the part about "ME8L update process" is something I don't even understand- so I doubt someone on the forum will just do that for you.

This discussion has already taken place in the past and the answer is- it's not gonna happen, sorry (at least to the best of my knowledge it won't).

You could if you chose to use another Sandy Bridge CPU but not the Ivy Bridge.

Also- research possible Sandy Bridge CPUs before you buy one- it's possible that someone would add CPU microcode of a Sandy Bridge CPU if you wanted to but it's not like there are lots of people doing this so it might take a lot of asking and waiting. It would be easier if you found out what Sandy Bridge CPUs are supported by your notebook (try looking for a Service Manual and googleing for updates other people did- successful or not) and then bought the CPU you know is supported.

As a rule of thumb- no CPU that is more recent than your notebook or even you notebook's BIOS is going to work.

I just pulled the 1.5Ghz B800 out of my 5349 and replaced it with an i7-2630QM (SR02Y). Super fast and got it on Ebay for under $100.
