    Welcome to nbr macsdd,

Unfortunately no, you cannot upgrade an amd processor to an intel processor.
The intel processor you chose uses socket P, and the AMD processor you have uses socket S1.
All turion dual core processors are Socket S1.
Since the processors use different sockets you cannot upgrade to an intel chip. They physically will not fit.

You can upgrade your processor to the fastest TL-68 if you so desire.

Every laptop processor you can upgrade. However ultramobiles are not upgradeable since their cpu's are soldered directly to the motherboard.
You will most likely have to take apart most of your laptop to change the processor.

I am sure that their are, if you look in the top right of your screen, you will see a search button. type in TL-60, then do another search for TL-64 and another search for TL-68 and you will see people who have either upgraded to a dual core 2+ ghz processor, or threads talking about the processor.

TL basically is terminology for dual core. The 60 numbers are just how AMD named them.
All three of these processors should work without any problem in your laptop.

Just make sure you upgrade your bios before you put in a new cpu.

okay upon searching it seems that i might have some problems with the acer's bios if i upgrade to the tl 66 due to the 90nm to 65 nm, question is there any way to over come this or would one just have to find a way to upgrade the bios?

You can upgrade the Bios, but you will have to download and install a bios version which is compatible with your laptop.
You will want to upgrade the bios though Acer
    here is a link:
    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5520/

However, you should search and see what the fastest turion someone has working in their laptop. Yours should support up to the TL-68, but it may only support up to the TL-64, cause of Bios recognition issues.

Hi. I got an Acer Aspire 5520 too. I was thinking of upgrading my processor to a AMD 64 X2 Tl-68 (2,4 Ghz), I now have a AMD 64 X2 Tl- 58 (1,9 Ghz). Is it possible to do this?

The guys in the store says I can't because everything is stuck to the motherboard or something. I would be really greatful if someone helped me, I'm not so good at computer...
