Can any one help please, (acer aspire 5720) the display lost some colours while my son was away at Uni, I told him that the lcd screen lead might have come loose, (it had) He pushed it back in & as he tested the display, before putting it back together he let the metal on the screen short out on the button board, Now he can only get an external monitor to work, I've replaced the screen/lcd lead & the inverter/lLCD module,There's no evidence of any burn or blow marks on the motherboard,All traces seem to be intact. The laptop is still fully working on the external display, Is it posible to rewire the lcd display to the vga out on the motherboard,Or does it use some kind of of display controller,Any help would be great,
CheersTerry

ADDED info
I've just changed the button board today,I've still got the same problem, I'm only left with a mobo swap, Unless I can find out what bits do what on the mobo,
I think it will be a diode though,
Does any one know if you can use another diode (correct way round) to bridge a live diode to see if it solves the problem? then I'd be able to quickly find the faulty one,
Cheers Terry

hey mate, red ur forum post and thought ad sign up and see if i could help out! right from what u have told me i can safely say that it is an lcd problem, no wires or anything like that, sounds like the lcd modual itself has broken, if u have had ur laptop less than 2 years then it should still be under warrenty, if u havent u can send it back and pay for the repair, or try and get an lcd modual for ur laptop online and fit it urself. up to yourself on that but its defo a lcd modual replacement that u need. hope this helps you out if u have any questions just get back to me!
