hi my acer powerpack ahs been playing up recently so ive brought another laptop and given my acer aspire 5920 to my brother.

he has had it 2 days and already installed a pirate copy of windows 7 so it has deleted all the acer software.
ive tried to download the software but on installation it says unsuported operating system. maybe i downloaded the wrong one. it was off this website.

basicly i want to reset to favtory settings to get rid of this windows 7 which with it being a pirate copy has many many faults and put it back to how it was on vista.

ive also tried windows restore with no luck.
    any help would be good

    Welcome to the forums, stingray19871!

Well, if your brother has installed Windows 7 over top the original OS (XP/Vista), your system probably won't show up as an Acer machine to the Empowering Technologies software; thus, it won't install.

And that install of Windows 7 might have wiped out the data needed to access your Disk-to-Disk Recovery program - it's a 10GB partition containing a disk image of your system from when it left the factory - or even the whole partition itself!

Your best shot to get the 5920 back to normal would be to call up Acer Support and order a new set of recovery DVDs. They won't be free, but your brother should man up and cover the costs.

you might want to try to see if the recover partition is still there
go to control panel>administrative tools>computer manager>storage>disc manager and see if on your hard drive is a partition with no name at the beginingaq nd at least with 10Gig. If you have it you still have the recover partition and just need to update the mbr with the Acer one. If you don't have it you must order the recover cd's from Acer.
