    Hi,

    The Problem:

Yesterday my 3,5 year old 5920g died completely. I tried to boot, the power light around the power switch lit and so did the multimedia key lights, i heard a faint noise (probably the harddrive starting) then after about 1 sec all lights went off and nothing happened anymore. The screen was black the whole time.

After several attempts the problem is allways the same.

    I've tried:

Reading forums and the user manual (Didn't find much relating to my problem. Closest match: http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/203884-huge-5920g-startup-prob-need-help.html)

Hard reset (Take out battery & power cable and press start button for ~60 sec)

    Starting with/without battery/power cable

So, what I want to know is:

Where should I start looking for the problem?

Is there any way this could be BIOS related or is it definately a hardware problem?

Any advise on how to diagnose the problem / rule out causes? (preferably without taking the machine apart)

A big thank you in advance for those who care to give some advice!

    hi vaakko

have you tried a different power supply? does the battery charge while the system is powered down?

I see it has an 8 series Geforce card built in
you may want to have a read of this

there are a few other articles, basically there is an early failure problem on many machines using these graphics chips.

It might be an idea to email Acer support to see if they like Apple and others are offering any extended warranty.

Good luck getting it sorted out
