Hi my model is the acer aspire 7720-6152 with the intell core duo t5450 1.66, NVidia GeForce 8600m GT 512 ddr2, 3gb of ram 250gb HDD,

I upgraded the OS to Win 7 ultimate 64 bit, installed a 30gb solid state ocz vertex, 4gb crucial ddr2 pc2-6400 800mhz and got the Intel Core2Duo T9500 OEM SLAYX 2.6ghz coming in the mail. Now my problem is this.... i bought the 9600m GT and installed it into my pc and the laptop would not turn on at all not even a charge light when i pluged in the power cord. The light comes on when the card is removed and when the stock card is inserted.... can the laptop power the card? is it even compatible at all?
Please ill be sending the video card back soon so any help would be great.

Would that even be worth an upgrade from the 8600m gt to the 9600m GT?

This thread would be useful for you to check (if you have already not read it)...
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/396320-acer-mxm-models-cards.html

According to previous experiences it should be compatible and should work. Check here:

May be your card is faulty?

    Cheers :)

    The card is probably short.

Check for a short-circuit between the card's PWR_SRC and GND pins (pin numbers can be found in the MXM specification on mxm.borec.cz).
