Well, check to see if the RAM is seated properly. Also, does the HD make any noise?

just curious, do you get a POST screen (the ACER screen).... pixelot is on the right track... i'd check the memory... even remove both pieces and try each one individually just to eliminate that as a possibility.... you might even try putting a bootable CD in the drive and see if that has an effect.

i assume you have tried booting with AC power while the Battery is removed?

    just a thought,

Same problem my son had with his asus, he removed the battery and it started on ac only, put the battery back in and so far, no other issues.

Ok, after reading these post I pulled the battery and it booted up ,windows started to load then Then I got a windows error recovery,I tryed to start windows in all modes(safe mode, exc). It would go back to windows error recovery. So I pulled one memory at a time then switching slots. No for some reason the lapy is completly dead. I tryed reseating the HD several times and the memory and it is still dead.No lights ,no nothing. The light is still on on the power supply.Windows is vista and I dont have a disk.

Well, if everything is dead, it sounds like something is shot for good.

Pull the hard drive out and slave it into another computer running Vista.
If it detects it might just be a failing partition then back up and reformat.
Then contact acer about a recovery disc.

Good call. If there are no errors, than it might be something else, RAM or motherboard being most likely. Out of curiosity, is the battery somewhat charged?

Dead notebook with no lights at all...hmm sounds like a classic aspire 5100 mainboard failure. If you can't even see the acer post screen when you press the power button then the mainboard is dead.
