    hey all i was just wondering i got a new battery yesterday for my old acer travelmate 2303Lci (using for school) now i charged it fully since it wasnt charged when it came so whats my option on using it should i use it on the battery and drain the battery completely then charge it or use it on the battery and charge it whenever?

    Charge the battery for at least 18 hours without interruption (first charge).

    And then then use it normally. No point in discharging LION batteries completely. It actually shortens their lifespan.

    lifespan calculated by the charging cycle as numeric value .
    As example it could be as 1000 times.

    New battery s should get three , total discharge - charge cycles,
    so to become truly active .

    The laptop by it self , turns it self down at 20% remaining power on battery.

    So, even i you like to drain the battery , the system will not let you, lets say there is software protection.

    Yes you can bypass it, but that should happen only at emergences.

    It all depends if you have Empowering Technology installed.

    You can change the settings there....

    Good idea though to not completely disharge LION cells.

    Does them no good at all. Because they have no memory. Like me :D
