They killed half of the competition by releasing CULV devices first and now they kill the other half with this hint :D

As much as I like my 1810T, I'd have to agree that I'm a little disappointed in the performance dept. I guess I'm spoiled using T9500 laptops at work...

Pretty happy here with both SU2300 and SU7300. I already have quad core and nVidia GPU with my gaming beast (M860ETU).

What exactly were you expecting? Something with Core i7 performance in a small package with long battery life for $600? :p

Is this q1 of calendar year (jan-mar) or financial q1 (apr-jun)? I hate having to wait for laptop tech when they tease you with specs years in advance... A CULV platform that offers great battery life when needed and nice turbo boost when plugged in would help make the convertibles of laptops, now I'd like to see this put in a timeline 13" with an ATI 5000 series equivalent of the 4330 :) mmm... one can dream

As long as my clips run smoothly, I'm good... :p

    This is wonderful news.

Honestly, I have an 1810T (SU7300) and 1410 (SU2300) and for what I need, they're plenty of power. My 1810T replaced a Dell Latitude D630 which had an Intel C2D T8300 (2.4 GHz Dual-Core) w/4GB RAM and while the power was nice, needing a 9-cell battery and an optional LiPoly in the media bay to get any type of decent run-time made it relatively heavy... Close to the weight of having three 1810T's in my backpack.

Intel is really stepping up their game; I've been very impressed so far. Even the SU7300's in the ASUS SKU's are OC'ing from 1.3 GHz to 2.13 GHz without breaking a sweat... That's just amazing.

    Cheers,
    Kermee

More likely Q1 Jan-March since Arrandale is debuting at CES which is Jan 7-10th.

Too bad, I am thinking of purchasing an ultraportable like the Acer 1410/1810 or its Gateway equilvalent by the end of December for my trip to India. I always like to have the latest tech and had a slight hope there would be refreshed models by December with new processors/chipsets, etc. but I guess not.

According to Wikipedia, the processors have a release date of Q4 09 but that looks to be inaccurate it seems.

These new Arrandale chips will have the GPU built right into them? How would they compare to the current Intel X4500 integrated graphics?

I am guessing these new Acer's will use the 18W Core i7 620UM and 640UM.

Can we safely assume that after CES in early January, we will hear news of refreshed Acer 1410/1810 and other CULV notebooks? Seems a bit early considering these current machines have just come out. I'd be thrilled if I could get an 11.6" machine with Arrandale before the end of the year, guess I'd have to wait till January/February.

Hopefully. The price for the Core i7 620UM and 640UM are around the same as when the SU9XXX series came out, so hopefully these at first won't be restricted to expensive Vaio TT like notebooks.

Ok, I don't feel so bad now. I ran the Passmark tests with a baseline compared to the Macbook Air, Toshiba R600, and a few other laptops running the u9300 and the u9400. The 1810t equaled or beat laptops that were hundreds if not thousands more.
