Hey guys, I'm trying to restore my 5672 to factory settings. I'm having two problems though:
The restore DVD doesn't boot.
There is an image on the DVD called STCDBOOT.iso that I burned to a CD. That boots to the eRecovery environment, but when it's ready for me to put in the restore DVD, it will not let me eject the CD. This is a slot loaded drive, and there's not emergency pinhole.
Should the DVD be booting? Is there a way to force eject these slot drives? Any tips or possible solutions to restore the laptop would be appreciated!
Thanks,
ruisu

Did you set your BIOS to boot FIRST from the DVD drive instead of the HD?
That's what I did when I used the eRecovery Disc.
I had two discs, one was a "System" disk that went in first, and then after a few minutes or less, it asked for the "Recovery" disc to be inserted...all went well and it took 49 minutes to complete the recovery process.

Yep, I can make it to the part where it's asking for the second disc, but the drive won't let me eject the system disc. It gets locked at some point...I really need to find a way to force eject it.

That's wierd...my DVD drive door popped open when it asked for the next disc to be put it in...that's how it's supposed to go.
I don't know why your drive isn't getting that "eject" command.

Neither do I...
I am alright though! There's a great last resort guide here that worked wonders. Actually it's good enough to be a first resort method.
Thanks for the tips though. -
Thanks...sorry I couldn't help but glad you found a solution.

go to acerpanam.com and check on notebooks/aspire 5720g/ download the ISO file, burn it on a cd cause is like 200 and something megabytes. Boot the iso cd and he is going to ask for the Backup Discks. Follow the instructions and tada.
Have a great day and merry christmas.
