    Acer empowering software is necessary ?

    Im install a clean xp. Now i dont know if is necessary the Acer Empowering software for the battery perfomance?

    , im think only need the keyboard shortcuts..

    no I believe you can control the power settings simply through built-in Windows software. For the keyboard shortcuts to work I think you need Acer Launch utility.

    Yeah you don't need those acer utilities as to me they are quite redundant. Just use windows built in power management or you can give notebook hardware control (NHC) or RMclock a try. They are third party power management software.

    The only acer software you need to keep as patrick told you is launch manager, this controls the wireless buttons on your notebook as well as allow you to use the keyboard functions(shortcuts) to control volume and screen brightness etc.
