So I was listening to music and moving songs to another folder when the computer froze when i opened up another folder. I waited like 10 mins but it was still frozen, so i decided to open the task manager and see if i could just close the folder..bad idea, the computer went to the green task manager screen but doesnt load the manager..i give it about 5 mins and decide to shut the laptop down. I tried to open it up and after i get the acer screen it gives me a black screen and doesnt load..and usually the hd light would flicker but now it just stays on and doesnt flickers..any suggestions?? any help would be greatly appriciated.
BTW i've only had the laptop for about 6 months.

it sounds to me like you have suffered some type of hardware failure, and i'll draw on my 20+ yrs of experience and say your hard drive has had a serious hickup, burp, or maybe it's done the PC equlivant of the pie eating contest in the movie STAND BY ME!!
excuse the crudeness of my joke and i'm not trying to make lite of your situation, i'm just using a pop culture refrence to explain what has happened to your hard drive... not that it's gonna make much difference at this point, but were you using the MOVE command or were you using the COPY command to move those files? how did you MOVE them? HIGHLIGHT the files then DRAG & DROP? do you remember exactly how you were doing the MOVE?
that info might help us resolve the issue unless it suffered permenant physical damage to the data on the HARD DRIVE.
the first thing i would try is to get into the BIOS SETUP
to do that you need to press F2 as soon as the ACER screen pops up!
if you can get into the BIOS settings screen and see the harddrive model that is a good sign. don't change anything in the bios,,, but if you accidentally do make changes you can always press escape and EXIT WITHOUT SAVING CHANGES...
assuming the HDD shows up in the BIOS, power the system off and back on... this time when the ACER SCREEN pops up start pressing F5 multiple times until a MENU comes up. if you get to that menu use the arrow keys to highlight SAFE MODE and then press enter.. the PC should boot into the special diagnostic mode of WINDOWS where you may be able to run SCANDISK and DEFRAG!!
click on START, and HELP,, then search for SCANDISK if you are not familuar with that program...
after running SCANDISK,, SHUTDOWN the system and attempt to boot like you normally would.
try that and post back letting us know what happens... if i can catch you online i have a few (20) other ideas what we can try next! -
Thanks for the reply kind sir!
I cut the files and pasted them into the other folder, i wasnt moving them or draging them just cut them and pasted them.
Ok i am able to get into the BIOS SETUP and everything seems fine, Ok I got to the f5 menu and clicked on safe mode..however the computer hd light freezes again and the screen doesnt move from the please wait loading windows files screen. Any more help? you could also email me at [email protected] where i would be able to read & reply faster. Once again thanks alot for your help.
Edit:!
Can anyone please help!! I want to atleast save the stuff from my harddrive before doing a system restore..Please Help Anyone!!!! -
have you tried pressing F5 and then choosing LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION?
there are a few ways i can try to help you,, but i stay so busy helping people here it's hard to focus on just one issue... they PM me like crazy!!
if you weren't like me, BROKE, you could buy a small HDD to replace the current one,, and buy a cheap ($10) usb enclosure to install your current HDD into...
then do a FACTORY RESTORE on the NEW DRIVE.... get the system up and running,,, and then with the OLD DRIVE in the USB enclosure you can copy needed files over...
or if you have access to a second PC buying a USB enclosure might be the best option even w/o a new drive...
put the HDD in the USB enclosure,, plug it into the other PC and BURN CD or DVD backups of all your critical files...
but if you wanna try to save the OS and the data,,, maybe we can setup a time when i can focus more on your issue....
there are a few options.. feel free to send me a Personal Message
later,
