Well, it works. Its fairly expensive and poorly designed. I cant due without it though.

    What I dont like:

    1. The way it docks to the Acer, it is a very short multi-pin cable. It requires the entire desktop be used to dock the notebook, which in my opinion nearly defeats the purpose of the dock.
Ideally, the Sony docks are a far better design. The connection to the dock is on the bottom of the notebook, so the pc sits on top of the dock....very efficient design.

    2. The power supply is as large as most docks!

    3. The included PCMCIA slot (great idea!!) has a driver issue and when I use the slot, the computer slows way down. Now, I have only tried 1 PCMCIA card, so there may be another issue causing this. I have used a CF card reader.

    4. Price!!

Other than these points it works very well and offers more ports than I could ever use. Cant live w/o it.

digitalfx, thanks for the quick response with that review. i have a couple questions if you wouldn't mind answering them.

my main reason for getting this dock is to essentially close the laptop and have it hooked up to this dock and use my extneral mouse and keyboard and my external lcd, essentially making the laptop a modified desktop. does this dock allow you to power up everything witht he laptop closed, etc? do you see any problems with my objective with this dock?

    thanks much!

Thats exactly how I use it at work...unfortunatly you have to open the Laptop, power on and wait for login before you can close the lid.

Furthermore, I prefer to have my laptop set to "When I close the Lid- The unit Hibernates"...this is no longer possible with the dock. Ideally Acer should assign this function to a profile, but it is a global option and I have not found a work around. For me this is a huge pain, as when I am at home I prefer to simply close the lid and Hibernate.

    ONE MORE THING-
as an added bonus, the Dock powers the PC, so I did not have to buy a second power supply for home. Not such a big bonus as the ps is only $40...but my previous laptop was a Vaio and the second ps was over $100.

Definitely glad to hear that you are using it for the same purpose and that for the most part it does the job (though it sucks about having to open the laptop to be able to turn it on before you can use it). i'd most likely leave it running all the time like i do with my desktops; save for hte occasional reboot for good measure. one more question, is there a way to find out if my laptop is 100% compatible with that docking station? I hvae that Acer 5672WLMi (the one that was talked about so much because it was on sale at compusa)

Thanks again DigitalFX for the responses with this.
