The buttons(email,e-management,internet) above my key board quit working,my volume bar will not show up on screen, and some of my symbol keys will not work.I've tried checking my settings and restore to a previous time that I knew the computer was working correctly.Anyone have any other ideas?

Make/model of your pc/laptop might help in evaluating the problem. Have you installed anything recently? Downloaded any programs/updates recently? If its a pc, did anything spill on the keyboard? Same question if it's a laptop, or did you drop it? Any other keys quit responding, or just the function keys?

Acer 3690-2970 running Vista 32 Basic.Haven't down load anything.Had 1 update 2 days ago,and Google Chrome had a beta release.Everything was restored to before that.No drops,no bings,no bangs, and no food or drink around my computer.Seems to just affect the function keys and a few of the symbol keys where the directional arrow keys are.Yep, it's a lappy.I don't visit shady websites either.I have a few forums I visit and webmail. That's it.Oh yea,ran anti-virus/malware/adware/spyware programs and a registry cleaner.I have used these programs without problems for years.

Have you tried looking in your device manager to see if there are any conflicts? Also, you can try and reload your HKEY files from the manufacturers website. It sounds like a driver issue more than anything. I usually don't see keyboards just fail like that, although it is possible, just not probable to happen without outside sources IMO. Check your device manager, and try to reload your HKEY and report back to us.

No conflicts in DM.Couldn't find the Hkey download on the Acer site.Could I just uninstall the keyboard driver and let the new hardware program reinstall it?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver, and nothing changed.I wouldn't expect it to change the buttons operations that are seperate from the keyboard. The few keys that are were not working still aren't working.I been at this for 12 hours now.Didn't sleep at all last night.

Go start then run then type msconfig and select the startup tab and ensure launch manager is ticked.

    Hope this helps

I found this on google, I would check for this as well:

"The qtaet2s.exe process is used to allow multimedia keys on Acer multimedia keyboards to function correctly. If you stop this process all of the 'normal' keys on the keyboard should still function, but the multimedia keys will not. Only stop this process if it is causing instability to your system.

qtaet2s.exe is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Acer Hotkey Application may adversly impact your system.

The Process Server database currently registers qtaet2s.exe to Acer.

This is part of Acer keyboard drivers.

    qtaet2s.exe is related to hotkeyapp.exe, keyhook.exe, powerkey.exe,

Whenever you have a concern about a file like qtaet2s.exe, feel free to visit our Anonymous Surfing section to help verify your file you are not giving away too much personal information.

The Process Server database is updated often, but inaccuracies may still exist, often caused by viruses named after valid files such as Acer Hotkey Application. Always verify your results just to play it safe."
