I bought an Acer TravelMate 550 in Germany and took it with me to Brazil, where we work as missionaries. According to the guaranteee the Acer should be repaired within two hours or if it takes longer they will give you a notebook for the time. It should be repaired within a week. The LCD had problems and the battery wasn't charging, it had to be replaced.
It took about 6 months to be returned (I have this all documented by official Acer documents). No substitute computer was given for the time and the battery wasnt exchanged. No complaint would change anything, so I had to proceed and sew Acer. Instead of admitting their error, they brought two lawyers to defend themselves and made Acer look worse than before. The case is not finished yet, but I can only suggest that if you plan to travel around the world, dont buy an Acer notebook. I shudder every time I pass by an Acer product.

Acer's service is pretty crappy. They have the worst operators ever.

I believe the repair policy (not to sure if it's a "guarantee") is that they will repair a unit within 2 hours, but I believe it's only within specific countries/cities/states. But if this information is clearly advertised on their website/documentation, then there's no getting around it, they're legally bound to offer that service to you, as long as you have met all requirements/stipulations.

All requirements were met. I am surprised a company this size would so easily ruin their name. There are many missionaries working around the world in our missionary agency, and it is obvious they will be looking for other brands in order not to incurr into the same situation.
