    Do i need to have to software which came on the laptop eg the epower management

    No, The only piece of software that is required is the launch manager. Without thi, none of the extra buttons (E.G. wireless button etc) will work.

    Is it possible to remove the programs one by one

    you should be able to go to the ADD/REMOVE Programs section of control pannel and remove what ever you don't want.

    i'd keep the Launch Manager, but i've trashed everything else that came w/ mine. even the Acer arcade DVD palyer and all.
