My acer laptop loses internet connectivity after about 2 minutes and will not let me repair it. I have to do a restore in XP to get it to come back up for another 2 minutes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the cards several times. I have done everything I can think of and it is driving me crazy. (well to be frank it is more of a short walk than a drive, but I digress) When checking device manager it shows all components working properly. Please give me some ideas.
Thanks,
Terry

Have you checked the wireless router?
-
It has done it in multiple places. I just got back from Fla. and it started there. I have restored my default IE settings also.

Did you do a winsock fix?
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I was not aware of it. I will try it tonight.

Sorry for my ignorance but how do you do a winsock fix?
I just got an Acer and I am having the same problem. I thought it was the Acer Net Management program (which I removed), but it still loses the wireless. My wife has been using her laptop at the same time with no connectivity issues so it has to be the Acer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
Here's the winsock reset.
Winsock Reset:
- Click the Start button and then click on Run.
- In the Run window command line type in CMD and press enter, or click OK.
- A black command prompt window will come up.
- At the command prompt type NETSH and press Enter.
- A NETSH command prompt will appear
- Type WINSOCK RESET then press Enter. It will display the following message: Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart the machine in order to complete the reset.
3. Remove and reinstall the wireless adapter:
- Click on Start, the right click on My Computer and choose Manage.
- In the computer management window that opens, on the left side, choose Device Manager.
- Look for the network adapter heading in the list on the right. Click on the + next to network adapters.
- Right click on the wireless adapter listed under network adapters, choose uninstall. It may ask if you are sure you want to remove it, say yes.
- Close that window and restart the computer. As it reboots, it will reinstall the driver we just deleted. When it is completely start up, try your wireless connection.
