    Acer laptop might be broken

    well a few months ago i dropped my laptop and ever since then when ever i booted it up it would say "catastrophic failure". since it still worked i ignored it and went on with my business.
    but lately i cant seem to get it to boot up anymore. It will load the windows startup screen then go to a black screen. i have tried safe mode but i still get the same results and i have let it complete the disk check but still the same result.
    im out of warranty so i dont want to send it in.

    "side note" When ever i shake it i can here something shaking inside.

    what should i do?

    As long as it is out of warranty I would open it,to see what broke in there...

    does it still turn on run? what it doing does turn just not posted?

    it will turn on and show the microsoft windows screen with that little blue loading bar then after that the screen will just turn black.

    i took it to some computer place and they told me it probably has a virus and i should just wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything.

    How do i erase everything?

    I think you hard disk damge you can run hard disk daig it will tell you chance are it did,nt like the fall

    just pop in a vista or xp install cd boot from cd rom. and follow the instructions

    here a walk through installing xp

    also search google.

    it definately sounds like you have a hard drive problem with the unit, however something as definately come loose, difficult to say what it is though; a stick of ram or the wireless card may have been unfastened by the fall.

    you can try reinstall windows but i suggest check hard disk make sure it okay firsted
    lap
    here website with daig software for hiatchi hard disk winch i think is most likey the brand you have of hard disk

    also the error mean hard disk is messed up

    I think your hard drive is broken if reinstalling xp does not work. go with a hard drive failure, and just get a new one.
