My brother's screen isn't coming up on his Acer Aspire 7745g-9823. Looks like it needs replacement.

I know it boots and goes to screen since it does fine if I just hook up to the tv via hdmi.

Anyone have a go to reliable source they've used for lcd's?

Googling, screencountry.com seems to be get high marks.

Also would be open to hear any gotcha's or if you all think it'd be better to just pay for professional replacement :)

It doesn't make much sense to pay for replacement - it's easy enough for anyone to do it themselves.
As for the screen - I always went for e-bay when in need.

New screen is nice but don't hesitate to buy a used one from a dismantled laptop that died. Sometimes that saves a ton of money and it's unlikely to be problematic.

That said check if the cable that leads to the LCD isn't damaged - it might not be the screen that needs replacement.
