I was recently having some sound problems and I saw in a forum somewhere that by going to device manager>audio devices and disabling then enabling the audio device I can fix the problem so I did that. It worked a couple of times but the last time I did it it didn't work. So I disabled it then restarted my computer. Unfortunately after restarting I could no longer find the audio device under the device manager. I already viewed hidden devices and it wasn't there. I've already installed the latest driver (correct OS) and it doesn't do anything. When I check dxdiag it couldn't find any sound card. Please help I don't want to reinstall everything again or go to Acer to have my laptop fixed.

Just in case someone stumbles to this post with the same problem I found a solution. It worked twice but the problem is I'm not sure if that's a good thing since it means it might be just a temporary fix. I'll post tomorrow if my speaker dies again. Anyway I first uninstalled any realtek drivers I had. Don't restart your machine yet after uninstallation. Afterwards install and run a program called ccleaner. Once it's up and running press 'registry' then 'scan for issues' then 'fix selected issues'. Afterwards restart your machine. Then install the latest realtek driver before restarting again. Hopfully this works for you. I didn't reinstall the latest realtek driver after running ccleaner the first time I did this so that might have contributed to my speakers crashing again.

Sigh ... It only worked temporarily. While at least my audio device doesn't disappear anymore like the last two times I still lose my sound -_-

It might be a dumb question- do you install the most recent drivers from Realtek's website or the ones Acer provided?
