Hello everyone..my first post on this great web site... i have just bought an acer aspire 9303wsmi.. running vista home premium. my problem is this. the built in web cam works fine if i click on the start icon on the desk top or from the menu list.. BUT the moment i put any photographs into my photo folder, downloaded via the SD card slot.. My web cam goes off line, and i get the message application has stopped working...followed by windows will look for a fix to this problem and report back to me....This windows has never done...
If i delete the photos from my laptop or even just put them in the recycle bin the web cam comes back on line... I am new to these laptops and very confused as to what is going on. i can not get hold of any one at acer UK to help me

Anyone have a tip or a fix i can try to stop this very annoying thing happening, i have only had the laptop four weeks...

Also one more annoying thing for me is this... when i put a shortcut on the desk top from any web site i chose lets say auto trader.. the auto trader trade name icon does not appear on the desk top only the Internet explorer icon... again i hate this can i fix this problem ...?

and PS i don't know much about programming so could you please keep it as simple as possible when you reply.
Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers
    Ken. :(

Thanks for the swift reply hoggi Only problem is .. could you explain a little more to me please, what you did, did you get another download driver to cure the problem, if i press the keys you say at what stage do i press them, what happens when i do, does your web cam now work with photos loaded into the picture gallery...

Sorry to be a pain, but i don't want to press the wrong buttons and wreck my settings.. apart from that i am not too well up on computers.

    Thanks
    Ken,

your well new to all this then..your in the right place for help mate.
the software that the cam use's is called bisonbar.and every time i tryed to load pic's from my camara it went offline.so i switched of the camara on the laptop and stopped it from loading on start-up.
first i used the Ctrl+Alt+Del all at the same time.
then you open the processes tab at the top.
    then scroll down to Bisonbar.exe
hghlight with one click and then end processes.
you will get a task manager warning.don't panic just say yes.
this will stop the camara and you can download from the sd slot.
you could make a new file.naming that file with the theme of the pic's and downloading to that file....
    have fun mate

Thanks for the info.. last question before i press any buttons.. does the web cam still work from another location, IE i use the desktop icon to start it at present... will it work from the start menu after doing the modification you suggest.. or does the camera go off line for good.

    Cheers and thank you.

Hi everyone, im sorry for givin you a bad news, but there is no final solution yet, the problem its about the compatibility of the software with the picture formats jpg, jpeg. the only thing you can do for the moment is saving your pics in other folder diferent than images, and wait for the acer patch.
