the compaq v4000 has a better graphics but low battery life, cause has the athlon ,i have the aspire and i wish i could replace it for the compaq i think its better. If you like to play games sometimes go for the compaq v4000 but if you are looking for battery life then go for any of the acers.

My new Acer Ferrari 4005 is by far my favorite and easily best computer I have ever owned (whether it be desktop or notebook)...and I have owned many computers.

    Ok,
Thanks for your responses. The Acer Ferrari is way out of my budget. I could order the Compaq V4000 and add the 12 cell battery for $20 more.

Careful about the 12 cell battery. I think that is the one that sticks out the back because it is so big. It kind of props up the notebook I think. Anyway, I would look at the Travelmate 4402WMLi if I were you. It may be a bit more expensive, but I am sure if you look around you can find one for right around $1100. It has a good graphics card and a 64 bit processor. Plus Acer quality is much better than Compaq any day of the week. Here is a link for the computer at NewEgg:

    Have fun looking!

I am very satisfied with my Acer. Build quality is excellent, it looks great, and has a great keyboard. I love the curved keyboard! :D

Haven't had any issues with the unit, works flawlessly.

Yeah, they are pretty good, reliable & well priced. I havent had any issues with my Acer. For the price I paid I dont think I can expect anything better.

Well, almost other than the stupid 4 cell battery that Acer uses in a 15.4" laptop. It belongs in an ultraportable not a 6.3lb bordering DTR laptop!

Another happy Acer user here. I used to take mine out and about but now that I have the Fujitsu P that's the one that gets travelling duties so the Acer stays home if I don't want to use my DT.

I look after another Acer laptop that I recommended to a friend of mine and she hasn't had any problems with it either so you can say there's 2 happy Acer owners out there.

What is Acer thinking by using a 4 cell battery? Why don't they just put 8 cell batteries in all of their laptops??

Having a 4 cell battery is a deal breaker.
