Ive tried to restore my acer aspire 5750 3 times and each time it has reached 21% and this error has occured. Restore failed - Error code=0x45d (WIMApplyImage cannot apply image : The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.) Any advice or solution would be great.

I think rather that the image is corrupt as if it was your hard drive you may have trouble to run windows normally... but as popeye said it may also be both. Try to use another image to restore.

I seem to be having issues, like you said, either with the recovery image that is in the recovery partition, or with the hard drive. I attempted to open the link that you have listed above but the page appears to be invalid. Is there a way to download the Acer eRecovery images online and not to have to buy them from Acer.
