Hi all,
I have a 5920G and recently upgraded my video card drives from lv2g; it gave me a boost of 0.3 in the graphics gaming bit, which is quite good.
Not sure if that's related to my problem - at night I like putting my laptop in sleep mode (which used to work fine) - attached to the AC cord, of course. However, I've been waking up to find it turned off.
Last night I waited about for it to do something after I'd put it to sleep; and after EXACTLY six hours, it seemed to switch itself back on, then shut down completely. It's not a battery problem (since it's attached to AC), so I'm thinking maybe it's a setting obscured somewhere in Vista which tells my laptop to shut down after six hours, regardless of its state?
Any suggestions would be very welcome!![]()

my suggestion is common sense and not what you want to hear...
if you are going to bed shut the PC down... it is better on your hardware.
i understand you used to be able to do it, but just because you can do something doesn't make it the correct or WISE thing to do....
i used to feel safe driving 100 + MPH but after a few near-death experiences, i started to use common sense and do the smart thing.... not just do anything i wanted. -
I agree completely (especially about the 100MPH!) - and most of the time I do end up switching it off completely. Just want to know if I can get my sleep function working properly is all!
-
are you running SP1 yet???
-
my guess is its in your power settings.. under power profiles, you should see a few drop down menus.
-
Yeah, SP1's there.
Solved my problem! Under the advanced 'sleep' settings it was set to 'hibernate' after six hours. How odd! Switched that off, and toying with the idea of switching hibernation off for good as I never use it and it's bound to save some resources! -
glad you solved the problem,,
and it sounds like diabling HIBERNATE is a good idea for you!....
i don't use Sleep, Hibernate, or any power saving features..
i do use RMClock software to monitor my temps, voltages, cpu usage, battery state, and other things... very good monitoring program....
just stay away from the UNDERVOLTING OPTIONS until you have read the UNDERVOLTING GUIDE and understand what it's goals and opjectives are
