    Hey everyone,
I've been reading in to the Timeline 3820 and I'm really excited for this computer to get out in Canada. I read in some magazine (I forget which one... was waiting to get my boss' car fixed) that Acer's are pretty poorly built, and their support sucks if you have a problem. Does anyone have any personal experience with their support (especially in Canada), and are the computers relatively well built?
    Thanks!

the only thing that I know is that it costs so much to call them if you no longer have warranty....

Here I go on my spiel again.
Acer's are strange creatures. From personal experience, my notebook (6920) is very nice and well built. BUT, the materials used are a little iffy. For example, the plastic used on my laptop has been cracking since after a few months of use. Here's where my experience with their support comes in-
Firstly, getting ahold of them for support was VERY easy. I had no problems with it and the lady that I contacted was very nice and effective. I was pretty upset to hear that I had to ship my baby all the way to Texas however. If I recall, I had to cover the shipment there, as well as the insurance, which was NOT cheap. It took quite some time to get the computer back, but Acer shipped it overnight to me which was really nice. But my happiness ended there. When I opened up the box and got to my laptop, and opened it up, I found that the speaker bar was not put back into place, there were scratches all over the screw covers on the bezel, and one screw cover was mis-matched, from a different model. When I put my laptop back together, the closed lid sensor stopped working. I was highly disappointed that my computer came back to me in such condition. I considered sending it back to them, but given the level of incompetence it takes to do this to someone's computer, I decided it best to not send it back to them.
But I can't stress enough, that the computer is fantastic. It's well built, sturdy, and relatively durable. And I've never had any issues with Vista (Which I no longer have on the computer), nor any hardware issues- she still runs as good as the day I bought her. I'm not sure If I'd be willing to buy another Acer right now though, not until they expand their service depots or give local companies authority to do warranty repairs. And if they don't do that, then I won't get another Acer until they make their computers a tad better.
