i've been looking for a few hours now, these seems like the place to be! anyhow - i have a acer travelmate c110, had it for a few years now, gift from a friend - i like a real pen in photoshop blah blah anyways, when i got it it was all messed up so i found tablet xp and tossed it on there, it was running xp pro when i got it so i took that off, put on tablet xp, got the drivers and it was fine, years later it is giving me all sorts of trouble. was giving me the BSoD until i noticed it only did it in range of certain types of wireless networks, so i took the wireless card out, runs fine. until recently. Now it auto rotates the screen, mind of its own, and when it does so it turns off the touchpad and sometimes the keyboard as well. I was going to take it apart and look for problems, got the service guide, started going through it and it mentioned a Product Quality Assurance program that came on one of its factory disks, which i dont have. I'd like to run a hardware diagnostic on the machine, the factory PQA if i could, but i dont have the disks or the hidden partition. id like to put this thing back to factory setting just cause the fresh out of the 7 year old box fell seems like it would be nice, and im not to concerned with taking up the drive space with the hidden partition. so i guess what im getting at is, i want to get the factory disks and restore the partition if i can, if i cant i can reinstall tablet xp and the drivers - but i still want to run a good hardware diagnostic on the machine. the hd is not the factory one from what i can tell, and i cant find the partitions that were on it, if they ever were. I do have the orig usb cd rom drive (just cd, no dvd usb drive here) that come with it. Recommendations? Links? Help please, i love this machine

You can't restore a recovery partition (at least not in an easy way).
I doubt you will be able to acquire recovery CDs by any means other than contacting Acer (and paying for them unfortunately).
Check HDD SMART status and run RAM diagnostic for starters. -
ok i managed to get the recovery partition restored and restored the computer back to factory. used acronis to restore lost/deleted partitions, then from bios turned on d2d and rebooted, pressed f12 at boot to select which device to boot and it gave me the option to boot the hd, cd drive, or d2d - booted d2d and it only gave me the option to restore, so i restored. i see no sign of the PQA program, i think its on a system diagnostics disk or one of the factory disks that shipped w/ the machine- would love a copy if anyone could help me out
