Acer has unveiled it's new line of gaming notebooks currently consisting of the Acer Predator 15 and the Acer Predator 17. A new line of desktops under the same moniker is expected as well. It also showed off a new Android gaming tablet, presumably to compete with the Nvidia Shield.
Acer shows new high-end gaming notebooks Predator 15, Predator 17, and the Predator Gaming Tablet
They are expected to launch at the end of the year. Seems kind of silly to release new notebook with a Maxwell GPU when Pascal would be right around the corner. Who knows; maybe we'll get a refresh of the 980M. 980MX perhaps?

The keyboard and touchpad looks really nice, I also dig the design and colors Acer chose.
Can't tell how the cooling is going to be but laptop seems to be an upgraded version on the Nitro series in terms of cooling (dual heatsink fan) since the laptop looks a lot thicker I'd say cooling is probably better than MSI's gaming line of laptops and worst than that of the Asus's ROG laptops.
G-Sync is enabled so it's most likely going to be a GTX 970M and up or a NVIDIA Q4 2015 refresh (possibility) not sure if it applies for all models but I still don't think I can afford one even if I wait, drools. -

Acer Predator (Challenger) G9-791 Sandra 2015 early specs:

Shows CPU mightl be a Intel (Skylake) i5-6300HQ @ 2.3Ghz to 3.2Ghz which should be directly comparable to an i5-4690K in terms of performance only locked, smaller die (14nm) and reduced TDP (I'm guessing 37W).
NVIDIA GTX 970M 3GB @ 1037Mhz GPU core, very likely not going soldered to motherboard; Acer has already said Predator series laptops will come with G-Sync enabled.
Other notes show, 16GB DDR4-2133 (PC34100) @ 23.43 GB/s and an Intel RAID 0 Volume @ 986.88 MB/s (possibly 2x 2.5" SSD's or 2x M.2 slot SSD's in RAID 0).
So far the early specs of this Predator series laptops are looking fairly good, I like the choice of the i5-6300 over a i7-6700 (Skylake) which should run cooler and very likely reduce the overall cost for the laptop at retail but Acer could still offer i7-6700 Predator models too.Last edited: Jul 29, 2015
