I have an realtively new ACER 2012 running Windows XP, which I use at home on a wireless network. When the machine is plugged in, I have no problems. When I run it on battery power (even in the same exact location with a full battery) the unit has trouble finding the wireless network, and when it does, it runs incredibly slowly. I have the same problem with the unit in other wireless network environments. Plugged in, great. On battery, awful. I can't figure out why this would be. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks very much!/Stuart

If you are using the Intel 2200 Wireless mini-PCI card then it might be the built-in power saving function causing the loss in performance.

I noticed something similar to this as well on my TM4002.

    To check:
Start >> Settings >> Network Connections >> (right click)Wireless Network Connection >> Properties >> Configure >> Power Management

Uncheck "Use default value" and set to highest, see if that helps.
