    Hi, all
I just have a very odd problem happend on my 6 month old acer 3820tg. I turned off my computer normally last afternoon, and when I was trying to boot it up in the evening, nothing happend, it was just like dead!!! First I thought it was power cord promblem, so I unplug the power cord and plug in battery which was fully charged, the problem still there. What's wrong with my computer, is there any way I can fix myself? I bought this computer from taiwan, and I called Amercian Acer but they told me they cannot give me any support since my computer was not purchase in America. So please Help...

okay, first. Try to speak to a manager. Even if you bought it outside of US acer should still have the 1 year warranty on the laptop. Now, if they deny you. Play with the laptop for a couple of minutes. Power on the laptop with power cable connect. Or power on with the battery connect. Or power on the laptop with both connect. OR power on the laptop without any power source. Give it three minutes in and hold down the power button for a couple of seconds in between.Anyway, believe it or not, this can also cause by a bios glitch. So my advice before disassemble or anything else is to give it sometime. Disconnect any devices that connect to your laptop. If that still doesn't work. Disconnect everything and disassemble the laptop to remove the back up battery on the motherboard and look for the reset button. Is there a reset button outside on the acer laptop? I am not sure. you have to look. Again, make sure you discharge any power still inside the laptop by disconnect the battery and power cable and pressing power button several times before disassemble the laptop.

Try removing both sticks of ram. Put one in at a time and see if it boots. Sometimes a stick of ram goes bad and computer won't boot. If that's it just buy a new stick for $20. If that isn't it, my second guess will be your video card has messed up and will need to be reflowed. Those are the two most common reasons for a laptop not booting. After that it's random motherboard issues.

yeah, the poster above me is right. you should try the ram too. However, if the video card need a reflow it will still should turn on for a second or two, the light indicators turn on, but not completely dead.

If you can't get it to work, use Acer's website to schedule depot level maintenance. It's way easier than talking to the script-readers on the phone who have little or no real knowledge anyway.

Hmm I didn't do any of that for my 3820TG I just registered it online. I bought it from NCIX Canada and live in USA.

Canada and the USA are both in the same PanAmerican region. A unit sold in Canada is automatically on the Acer USA site and all you have to do is register it online. The instructions above are for those who bought from PCHome in Taiwan or Computeruniverse in Germany and imported it to the US.

Thanks for all of you guys. Right now I have another issue.
    To Bronsky:
Thanks for the link you provide. I contacted with Acer America, they said since my laptop was not purchased in US, they are unable to activate the warrenty. And since I'm not a traveler, the International Travelers Warranty is not valid to me. So I will have to pay for any repairs made outside Taiwan. Any suggestions?
