I went to Acers web site, (just to see what they offered), and my God, you have to know what each model consists of before you chosse one out of about 75 models out of a list.
Instead of showing you the computer, and it's basic components, you choose a model#, that is all...WOW, that is confusing.
Glad I'm not an acer fan, but if I was, it would be an 8 hr job to locate a model you may like....
You're better off just shopping for one instead of studying them from a drop box...

I agree--one of the worst websites out there. They should fire their webmaster and hire someone who has a clue.

I don't think acer's website is too bad to me it still serves some purpose. Remember unlike Dell who sells their PCs almost exclusively online (from their website) acer doesn't follow this model in that you cannot purchase any acer model online directly from acer you have to go through a retailer.

Therefore they don't bother to set out their website like Dell would and put all the information up front, however the information is still there it is just presented in a different way. Most people who buy acer's buy them in bestbuy or circuit city etc and they can see the specs for the various models there and don't bother to search any acer webpage.

You know what I don't get....
Money doesnt grow on trees, so why spend 800 or on something that repeatedly needs repairs, or help, or whatever.
OK let's rephrase that....How could you build something, sell it for that price, and not be reliable? Oh wait American car companies have been doing that for years!! That's for another day....
    I have a 6yr old toshiba satellite....never had a problem, never.
Now I would like to believe toshiba is still good....but i am hearing some things i don't like. I do like the japanese built fujitsu...japanese built, that's huge. I would pay more for less features if it meant a better longer lasting unit..
Scoober you seem pretty knowlegeable....i like reading what you have to say!

I thought this thread was about acer's website design  Why are you people going off about your perceived notation of acer's quality? If you want to rant about something then perhaps you can start your own "I hate acer blog" but the forums are supposed to help people and IMO you are taking this thread way off topic here.

Oh and by the way I have had 2 acers back to back and never had a problem with anyone one of them. Just because a few people get lemons that doesn't mean that all acers are bad.

Sorry if I am coming off a little harsh here but I am just responding to what I am seeing.

    Thanks! :D

I've been a fan of Fujitsu for years, and the Japanese work ethic, attention to detail and quality is something that I hold in high regard as well. I think Fujitsu is very likely on the verge of coming out with better featured notebooks with longer battery life, but that's just a hunch; I've been watching there product line, and seen some discounts and such lately.

I need to make a purchase soon, so it's really looking like Asus for me. They are a great company, with excellent customer care and service, and they have just added to their already great warranty. They are also one of the very few if any that guarantees their screen against pixel defects.

    Check this,
    ASUS loves their (new) customers

yeah, my experience with Asus has been great...even though I had to sent my G1s back to them 2 times because of defective screens. However, the response I received typically was prompt, and they didn't bull**** me around. my screens now fixed, and I love this screaming machine once again! Also, interesting to note that they still accepted my notebook for repair even though I had several dead pixels after my "pixel" warranty expired (This was the beginning of the summer)

Wow! Thanks for the post, that's very encouraging.

What was the problem with the screens?
