Ugh. Acronis's software sucks really bad. Reinstalling the OS and manually migrating the files is less painful (trust me, I have used Acronis in the past).

me too i used Acronis before and had bad memories about it.. my whole files poof...

HOW are you doing this?
You've got your 80gb drive in your computer, I assume, and your 320gb drive is connected how? USB ?
Easy Migrate has a hardtime with USB...if it works at all.
You're better off putting both drives in a desktop and doing it that way -
How are you trying to clone the drive? Do you have the new drive in an external enclosure? Given the problems you have been having here is what I would do. With the new drive in an external enclosure, I would pre-partition the hard drive using Windows disk management. I would make 3 primary partitions on the new drive, the first partition the exact same size as the PQSERVICE partition on your old drive and the other two partitions however you want to split the space on the drive. Make the second partition the Active partition. Format each new partition as NTFS and give them unique names so you know which is which. Then I would use a bootable CD or flash drive created with Acronis True Image and boot from that with the external enclosure still plugged in while booting. I would then backup the PQSERVICE partition, saving the backup someplace convenient, like the empty third partition of the new drive. It will be about 6.5 gigs in size. After that completes, I would restore the backup and boot record to the first partition of the new drive. When the restore is done, shutdown and swap the drives. Enter the bios when booting with the new drive installed and make sure D2D recovery is enabled. Save and exit the bios and hit alt + f10 while the white Acer screen first pops up and the recovery to factory defaults should start. Place the old drive in the external enclosure and you should have access to all your files you may need. When the recovery is done and you have successfully booted into your new hard drive, you can copy any files you want from your old hard drive.
If you are still having problems, try to give us some more specific details of what you are doing so we can better analyze the problem.
Frankly, I don't know why the cloning isn't working for you. I didn't have any problems moving up to a 500gb drive. -
My bad i forgot to say that i'm using an external usb encloser with my new drive in it.

Hey Reaper, I suspect the USB is your issue. Do you know if the laptop drives are SATA?
You can easily connect any SATA drive to any sata controller--I clone drives all the time by putting them in my desktop which has 6 sata controller connectors.
IF they are IDE, you need a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter, which can be had for about $10 -
gerryf19 thanks for your reply, my laptop hard drive is sata and so is my new drive.
Acronis Easy Migrate ??
