Just because it has the button doesn't mean it has a bluetooth device installed. If not installed, you will need to buy a compatible usb bluetooth device to use it.

I registered for this site just to answer your question, so I hope you are still watching this thread.

The Acer 6930 does have bluetooth installed. All versions of the 6930 do.

They way you activate it is by pressing where you said there is a "light" for it.
Everything on this laptop is touch sensitive. The volume bar, the media player buttons, the wifi light and the bluetooth lights.

They are all more than lights, they are also the buttons that control all of those things.

For your blue tooth device to be found first press the bluetooth "light" button. this will turn it on. Then go into the control panel & open up the blue tooth devices menu. Click add & then follow the directions.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi!

Thanks for the answer! I wonder if you can elaborate a little more? When I press the bluetooth touch key it states "no device". When I go to the control panel, I can find no mention of bluetooth whatsoever. Bluetooth should be in the network and sharing center shouldn't it?

    Many thanks!

    In kind regards,

    Gigantus.

Hi and thanks for your reply!

When I click on the touch sensitive bluetooth button, text comes up on the screen that says "no device".

When I look in control panel, I cannot find any mention of bluetooth. It seems like there is no device installed.

    Thanks for your help!

    In kind regards,

    Gigantus.

Sounds to me like yours didn't come with one installed. You may want to check with Acer to see what they say.

Also, if you do a search for discussion of this issue regarding other Acer models, I know that a number of folks here have found compatible bluetooth modules and have successfully installed them themselves.

Acer's model numbers are somewhat confusing, because for each number- take your 6030, for instance- they actually have 3-4 different configurations that they sell. I wonder if yours is simply one without the bluetooth device installed.

My Extensa 4420 is that way. It's got the button for it, but nothing inside.

Hi and thanks for the reply!

So that model talks about bluetooth in some capacity, but maybe it does not have the hardware or software. What is the point of mentioning bluetooth then? It is a brand new computer, and the latest generation thereof. It is inconceivable to me that such a computer would not have bluetooth!

    Anyone know for sure?

"No Device" pretty much says it all. If it doesn't say it is included on any of your documentation that came with the laptop, then it is not installed.

OK too bored to read all posts in detail, but my 6920G has a BT button but no hardware (2nd laptop I have that did this). I bought a mini BT USB adapter off eBay, $20 or so.
