I just bought two gb of ram. Here is the specs.

    On the stick it says 2GB DDR-II 667MHZ. And it's Sodimm 2 gb ddr2 pc2-5300 PC5300 667MHZ LAPTOP 2 GB RAM.

I took the back off and put the ram in the first slot available and it wouldn't turn on. So i put the factory 512mb back in and im in business. Am i using the wrong type of ram? or should i put it in the furthest slot?

AFAIK the Aspire 5610Z has a 943GML chipset, and supports 1GB DDR2-533 max per slot.

I have recently upgraded my memory with 2x1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz RAM. It works well in my Acer Aspire 5610z.
If you can, return the 2GB stick and get 2x1GB and you are good to go.
