Hi, new to this forum, sorry if this problem has been posted before (I couldn't find anything). When reviewing this machine I found that it had a second HDD drive bay which I thought would be helpful if I ever needed extra space, that time has come. I made the mistake of buying an identical toshiba drive to put in the second bay as when I opend the second drive bay, it was totally empty, no chasis, no connector, or any sign of where I could attach a connector to the motherboard. Why promote a second drive bay if it can't be used; or can it???????

Can it be done, can I get the parts to do it??

    Greatful for any help, thanks

I only needed 4 screws when I added my second hard drive. I plugged it in right next to the first one, which is the only place it could go. I don't have the G model though. I don't know if they are different or not.

If there is no connector, then you cannot add a second hard drive. The bay is probably there because the chassis is probably used for several different models with more/less features.

Does your HDD module look like the one I am attaching?

Here is a better picture of the hard drive connector. You can see where the 2 hard drives attach to the one card and the single connector of the card then plugs into the connector in the drive bay.

Then I'm assuming you have a Travelmate. I have an Aspire 7720. I don't know anything about the Travelmate models. Sorry.

Go into disk managment in windows and check to see if it's there, it might be that you have to format/assign a drive letter to it for it to work.

    Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Managment.
