I will need to buy a new laptop. Our IT guy suggested Acer. I have no experience with Acer (Dell and Gateway) for laptops. Anyone have any thoughts?

I have heard marginal things about service, phone support, etc.

He is suggesting the ACER TM4672...anyone have one of these?

Give me some pros and cons....please....

How would you rate versus HP or Toshiba??

    Thanks

    Ken

I have reservations about Acer as they dont enjoy good after sale nor sale service reputation in my country. After checking out the reviews, I went ahead and bought my Acer TM8204. So far it's trouble free and I am happy with it. I hope it stays that way. :) The build quality is above average. I have a Compaq which served me 4 years. It is fairly reliable but their after sales service are terrible. I had problems buying a replacement battery from them after a year. They have poor inventory system.

Some owners of Acer reports occasional problems but thousands out there just use them trouble free. The TravelMate series should be better build then the Aspire range. Hope this helps.

i suggest posting in the wtb for some suggestions if you want some. acer will have similar quality to the toshiba and hp consumer lines (dv for hp or satellite for toshiba)...acer's is the aspire series. however, i believe both have better quality business lines than the acer series (travelmate). the hp (nx/nc/nw) and toshiba tecra are quite sturdy.

    Thanks for the advice.

BTW, what is the "wtb" where you suggest I go for advice?

There are so many mixed opinions about EVERYTHING out there.

    Thanks

WTB = What To Buy. It's the first main forum within the forum page aka What notebook should I get. You might also wish to fill out the standard FAQ form
